Violet “Vi” (Smith) Rush
YOUNGSTOWN – Violet “Vi” (Smith) Rush, 90, of Youngstown, Ohio, formerly of Salem, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Park Vista Assisted Living in Youngstown.
She was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Greene County, Pa., a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Smith.
Violet had been the assistant manager at G.C. Murphy for 25 years and was a member and former deaconess of the First Christian Church in Salem.
Her husband, Francis Robert Rush, whom she married July 31, 1941, preceded her in death April 13, 2006. A daughter, Carol Sue McKenzie, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Terry (Supat) Rush of Canfield; a brother, James Smith of Pennsylvania; five sisters, Marilyn Burns of Pennsylvania, Carolyn Adrian of North Carolina, Dorothy Grims of Pennsylvania, Kate Parsons of Pennsylvania and Virginia Ekey of Pennsylvania; two granddaughters, Georgina Proverbs of England and Tara Wooddell of Virginia; a grandson, Steven Rush of Canfield; and six great-granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home in Salem with the Rev. Leonard Moore officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
