Elizabeth Verina McElhiney

SEBRING – Elizabeth Verina McElhiney, 92, formerly of McConnelsville, OH, died Sunday at the Crandall Medical Center in Sebring.

She was born on Aug. 20, 1920 in San Toy, OH, the daughter of the late John and Mary Martin Clay Glaspy.

She was a graduate of M&M High School in McConnelsville, OH and was employed in a variety of different positions in the Warren area. Elizabeth was a longtime member of Central Christian Church, First Untied Methodist Church, both in Warren, and also Deltona Methodist Church in Deltona, FL.

She married Gail D. Steinbeck in 1941 and lived in the Warren area until moving to Deltona, FL where they lived for 13 years until his death in 1983. She married Jerrold McElhiney in 1988 and moved to his family farm (Morgan’s Raid Farm, circa 1822) in McConnelsville. He died in 2010 and she became a resident of Crandall Medical Center in June 2011.

Survivors include a son, Donald E. (Dorothy) Steinbeck of Jacksonville, NC; daughters, Marilynne (Jesse) Wamer of Salem, OH, and Tonia (James) Hartley of Gahanna, OH; a stepson: Richard (Bonnie) McElhiney of McConnelsville, OH; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at noon Thursday at McFarland & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Yesudas Devadan officiating from the First United Methodist Church, Warren. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Vienna, OH following the service.
