Madalyn S. Garrod

COLUMBIANA – Madalyn S. Garrod, 97, formerly of Park Court in Columbiana, died Tuesday evening of congestive heart failure at Parkside Healthcare Center.

Born March 20, 1913, she was the daughter of Thomas and Alice (Crook) Anglemyer.

She was preceded in death on Sept. 8, 1995, by her husband, Wilbur H. Garrod, whom she married on Oct. 19, 1935.

Mrs. Garrod and her husband owned and operated Whispering Pines Golf Course, from which they retired in 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Larry) Kannal of Kent and Sharon (William) Crabill of East Palestine; four sons, Kenneth J. (Kay) Garrod of Ashtabula, George T. Garrod and Wilbur H. (Deborah) Garrod Jr. of Columbiana and David W. (Peggy) Garrod of Athens; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm St., Columbiana. The Rev. Paula Archdeacon will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Columbiana Cemetery.
