Donald L. Sanor

SALEM – Donald L. Sanor, 91, of Salem, died Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born June 29, 1921, in Salem, a son of the late Bryan and Emma (Kamfer) Sanor.

Don was a retired dairy farmer, former Butler Township trustee, 50-year member of the United Commercial Travelers, 75-year member of the Willow Grove Grange, 50-year member of the Ohio Farm Bureau and a member of the Winona United Methodist Church.

Don enjoyed farming, gardening, wintering in Florida, shuffleboard, playing cards, and especially loved his family and his dog, Cookie. Don and Ruth had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with a wedding ceremony and renewing of their vows.

His wife, Ruth (Walpert) Sanor, whom he married Jan. 20, 1943, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Leetonia, survives him along with seven children, Donnette Huston, Ron (Nancy) Sanor, Tom (Jackie) Sanor and Larry (Dawn) Sanor, all of Salem, Luanne Sanor of Damascus, Patti (Mike) Cardone of Lakewood and Rita (Chuck) Blake of Cincinnati; a sister, Iva (Jack) Williams of East Liverpool, Ohio; a brother, Lynn (Carolyn) Sanor of Salem; sister-in-law, Kate Sanor of Salem; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

An infant brother, Ronald Sanor; a brother, Lloyd Sanor; and a grandson, Darrin Huston, also preceded him in death.

Services will be held at noon Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Haan Phelps officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
