William C. “Bill” Mehno
SALEM – William C. “Bill” Mehno, 90, of Salem died at 12:57 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late Wasil and Fenya (Kroveski) Mehno.
Bill worked for 45 years for the former E. W. Bliss Co. in Salem and retired in 1990 as Manager of Industrial Engineering. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour. Bill was a 1941 graduate of Midland High School, Midland, Pa., a member of the Salem AmVets Post 45, Salem VFW Post 892, Salem American Legion and the Salem Independent Hose Club. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps and flew in 21 missions.
His wife, Amelia “Millie” (Galli) Mehno whom he married June 3, 1951, preceded him in death on April 15, 2004.
Survivors included four sons, Michael (Gail) Mehno of Plano, Texas, John Mehno of Salem, Stephen (Kelly) Mehno of Sylvania, Ohio and Robert (Ursula) Mehno of Salem; three daughters, Tanya (Daniel) Papic, Alicia Mehno and Suzanne Mehno all of Salem; 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, William Mehno Jr. in 1961, and three brothers, Michael, Paul, and John Mehno.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour with the Rev. Jerome H. Colegrove officiating. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
