Gladys “Tawny” Wooley
DESTIN, Fla. – Gladys “Tawny” Wooley, 92, of Destin, Fla., passed away in an assisted living facility on Friday, May 3, 2013.
Tawny was born in Salem, Ohio, on Dec. 19, 1920. Tawny was a resident of the local area since moving here in 1967. Tawny’s love of life and her love of people made her a special friend of everyone she met, especially her adopted “sisters.”
Later in life she enjoyed going to the Elks club with her good friend, Tom Rogers. She would often say, “She wasn’t an Elkette, just a dear.” All who knew and loved her would say she was a big- hearted lady.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, C.R. “Bud” Wooley, and her son, Thomas Wooley.
Survivors include her son, Tod (Janet) Wooley of Pensacola, Fla.; granddaughter, Dawn Sisson; two great-grandchildren, Avery and Chase Sisson of Shalimar, Fla.; grandson, Scott Wooley of Shalimar, Fla.; grandson Thomas (Linda) Wooley of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren, Paige and Taylor of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of The Sterling House of Pensacola, Fla., for the loving and compassionate care they provided ‘Tawny.”
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the McLaughlin Mortuary, 17 Chestnut Ave., Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Duane Keck will speak on the family’s behalf.
