Marvelle E. ‘Betty’ Calvin

SEBRING – Marvelle E. “Betty” Calvin, 95, of Copeland Oaks, Sebring, formerly of Columbiana and Franklin Square, died at 1:39 p.m. Sunday at Alliance Community Hospital.

Mrs. Calvin was born Dec. 1, 1917 in Salem, a daughter of LeRoy and Nelle Kintner Frederick and had lived in the area all of her life.

Betty was a bookkeeper for the former Central Clinic and then Salem Community Hospital for more than 25 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of St. Jacob’s United Church of Christ where she was active with the Women’s Guild and had also attended the Damascus United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Our Community Club and was active with the 4-H in Leetonia. She had also served on the Columbiana County Elections Board.

Her husband, Randall D. Calvin, whom she married Oct. 14, 1939, died May 22, 1989.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda (Gerald) Walters of Summerville, S.C., Eleanor (Donald) Espeseth of Huntley, Ill., and Margaret Hartley of Glenshaw, Pa.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia with Pastor Jenna Brown and Pastor Bob Amey officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
