SALEM – Shirley Uptegraph, 66, of Salem, died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born April 28, 1947, in New Port, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward and Hildrieth (Skinner) Thompson.
Shirley was a 1965 Salem High School graduate and before her retirement in June of 2007, had been employed at Salem City Schools for 30 years as a duty aide/library aide at Prospect, Southeast and Reilly Elementary. She was a member of the Faith Chapel, active in the Senior Ministry at the church and enjoyed doing word search puzzles.
Her husband, Norman L. Uptegraph, whom she married March 11, 1967, survives her along with a son, Shawn Uptegraph of Salem; a sister, Karen (Dennis) Kiplinger of Foley, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Shauna and Bethany.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Faith Chapel with Pastor Larry Paxson officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
