Ellen (Haas) Brantingham

MARTINSVILLE, Va. – Ellen (Haas) Brantingham, 92, of Martinsville, Va., formerly of Winona, died on July 26 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.

Born Feb. 28, 1921, in Shelby, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Beam Haas and Ira Haas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Paul J. Brantingham; and two stepsons, David Brantingham and Robert Brantingham.

Mrs. Brantingham taught at Cleveland Bible College for five years. She married the Rev. Paul Brantingham and they pastored churches in the Evangelical Friends Church denomination where she continued to teach at Winona; Tecumseh, Michigan; Paris, Tenn.; and Martinsville.

Survivors include her son, Samuel Brantingham of Martinsville; a daughter, Paula McClure of Floyd, Va.; three stepsons, John Brantingham of Washington State, James Brantingham of Michigan and Ben Brantingham of Oregon; 25 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Friends Church in Martinsville with Pastor Carl Luff officiating.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the church.
