William D. Linhart

NEW SPRINGFIELD – William D. Linhart, 85, of Woodworth Road, died at noon Monday at his home.

Born Dec. 1, 1927, in Erie, Pa., he was the son of the late Davis and Bertha Hall Porter Linhart.

Mr. Linhart had been employed with the Ohio Turnpike for 12 years, as well as had driven bus for the South Range School District. Along with his wife, Gene, they had started the Town ‘N Country Garden Center LLC in 1959, and later Town ‘N Country Landscaping, LLC, and was still active in the business until the past few months. He was a member of the New Springfield Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, the former Gene Dailey, whom he married in 1950; two sons, Gary J. (Patti A.) Linhart of East Palestine and J. Scott (Kimberly Sue) Linhart of Columbiana; two daughters, Rebecca (Michael) Minamyer of New Waterford and Billie J. (Jerry) Lydia of Canfield; 22 grandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; a brother, Robert Linhart of California; and a sister, Jean (Paul) Tanner of Anderson, Ind.

The family will receive friends at the New Springfield Church of God, 3649 E. Garfield Road, from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will begin at noon Thursday. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Alan Leach. Burial will follow in New Springfield Cemetery.
