Lee William Cranmer

SALEM – Lee William Cranmer passed away peacefully Sept. 22, 2013, at Salem Community Hospital. Lee had a valiant three-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

He was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1951. He retired in 1990 as chief of the Salem Fire Department. He loved golfing and was a member of Westville Country Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Lee donated his body to Case Western Reserve Medical School for research.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Schuller Cranmer; three sons, Barry Lee of Prospect, Ky.; Brett W. of Charlotte, N.C., and Brad (April) of Grinnell, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and siblings, David (Barb), Earl (Christie), Richard (Sandy) Kim (Rita) , Linda Cook and Sally (John) Vocca.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dean B. Cranmer and Bertha I. Dunn Cranmer; and a brother, Scott Cranmer.

Lee will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and friend to all who knew him. His friends and family will gather for a casual farewell at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Saxon Club on Route 9.
