William J. Severn

MINERVA – William J. Severn, 92, of Minerva, died Friday in Minerva Eldercare.

He was born June 24, 1921 in Coshocton to William and Agnes (Stewart) Severn. He retired from the Minerva Wax Paper where he was an electrician for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, past commander of Minerva VFW Post #4120, former member of the Minerva American Legion Post #357, member of the Minerva First Christian Church, Tubal Lodge #551 F&AM, 32nd degree, Scottish Rite, Valley of Canton and a longtime member of the Minerva Volunteer Fire Department where he was a lieutenant.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel (Rue) Severn who died in 2007.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry (Bill) Laubacher of Minerva and Cathy (Bill) Ostarchvic of Salem; a sister, Edith (Dick) Murphy of Minerva; a brother Harold “Nick” Severn of Canton; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial with full military services will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday.
