WILMINGTON, N.C. – Lawrence Vasilevich, 81, of Wilmington, N.C., died of natural causes on Nov. 12, 2013.
Mr. Vasilevich was born on Sept. 25, 1932, in Salem, Ohio, to Lazar and Nada (Polzovich) Vasilevich, and was an only child.
He was a graduate and class president of Salem High School Class of 1950 and a 1956 graduate of The Ohio State University. He was commissioned in 1956 as a 2nd lieutenant, United States Air Force, and served as an electronics warfare officer on B52’s for Strategic Air Command (SAC). Following nine years of service, he became the owner and president of Thompson Motors Lincoln Mercury Dealership in Alliance, Ohio.
Mr. Vasilevich is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally-Jane (Thompson) Vasilevich of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Julie) Stanish of Chambersburg, Pa.; a son, Lawrence “Chip” (Gloria) Vasilevich II of Enterprise, Ala.; Luanne Moore and Cindy Dennison of Topeka, Kan.; and grandchildren, Alex, Molly and Andrew Stanish, all of Chambersburg, Pa., and Bryson Vasilevich of Enterprise, Ala.
A military graveside service is planned for April 2014 at Fairmount Memorial Cemetery in Alliance, Ohio.
