Margaret “Peg” E. Walte

SALEM Margaret “Peg” E. Walter, 81, of North Lima, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, at Salem Community Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Peg was born on June 21, 1932, in Salem, a daughter of Frank and Mabel (Allison) Willard. She was a lifelong area resident.

She married John S. Walter on Nov. 29, 1953. He passed away on Jan. 19, 1994.

Peg was employed at Derenzio’s Restaurant in Salem as a cook for many happy years, until she retired in 1979.

She enjoyed doing crafts, scrapbooking and crocheting. She spent over 30 years camping at Chapparal Family Campgrounds, which she loved. She especially enjoyed being with her family and friends. She belonged to the Mahoning County Extension Club from 1965 until the present.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Cindy Walter of East Palestine, Ohio; a grandson, James “Jamie” (Kimberly); a granddaughter Polly; three great-grandchildren; and seven sisters, Beverly Peters, Evelyn (Charles) Ardeno, Twila Shoaff, Sharen (Willis) Uphold, and Wendy (Bennie) Phillips, all of Salem, Inez (Steve) Ardeno of Austintown, and Linda Endicott of Lisbon.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; her daughter Rebecca Ann Walter, who passed away Oct. 16, 1996; a grandson, George; three sisters, Myrtle Rubich, Betty Reed, and Fern Kenst; and three brothers, Henry “Hank,” Russell “Russ” and George Willard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima with Pastor Larry Paxson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home, 11500 Market St., North Lima, and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

The Seederly-Mong and Beck Funeral Home in North Lima, Ohio is entrusted with the arrangements.

Peg’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to close friends Tammy and John Chuey, who were always there for Peg and provided extra love and support when it was needed most. Their care and compassion over the last three years is much appreciated.
