Charles “Lindy” Cyrus
EAST PALESTINE – Charles “Lindy” Cyrus, 85, of West High Street, died at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday at Covington Community Campus.
He was born Dec. 20, 1927 in New Middletown, a son of the late Grover and Elma Raub Cyrus and had been a lifelong resident. He was a self-employed carpenter retiring in the late 1990s.
He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church of East Palestine and a former East Palestine Park board member.
He is survived by his wife, the former Wilma Saviers, whom he married April 18, 1952. He is also survived by two sons, Charles Cyrus of Mt. Jackson, Pa., and Lee Cyrus of East Palestine; a daughter, Barbara Greaves of East Palestine; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Three sisters, Twila Bacon of Tiffin, Doris Rice of New Middletown, and Esther Pollock of Hanoverton also survive him.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Centenary United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.
