Verna Callahan Echard

COLUMBIANA – Verna Callahan Echard, 82, of Columbiana, died Dec. 13 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boardman. She had been a resident of Covington Rehabilitation Center in East Palestine for the last two months.

Born March 17, 1931, in Alliance, she was the daughter of the late John W. Callahan and the late Mabel Clay Callahan.

Mrs. Echard was a homemaker and a member of the Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Columbiana.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Boyle of East Palestine and Mrs. Joseph (Kathy) Remish Sr. of Columbiana; a sister, Lillie Echard of Orlando, Fla.; six grandsons; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death June 24, 1993, by her husband of 46 years, Raymond E. Echard; and her companion of 11 years, John C. Manning, who died Sept. 12, 2013.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Emmanuel Methodist Church in East Palestine. The Rev. Mark McTrustry will officiate.
