April Jean Trenkelbach

LEETONIA – April Jean Trenkelbach, 50, of Leetonia, died on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Salem Regional Medical Center.

She was born on May 3, 1963, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late John Klein and Barbara Thomas Klein.

April was a 1981 graduate of the Columbiana County JVS and finished her education at Kent State University where she received her bachelor’s of arts in anthropology. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Leetonia and served as treasurer for the Salem Historical Society for many years.

April also had a membership to the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens where she enjoyed visiting the manor and gardens. She worked as the department manager in the Lawn and Garden Department at both the Austintown and Salem Walmart for a total of 10 years. She enjoyed traveling with her family and treasured the time they spent visiting Germany. April also enjoyed working with her husband and restoring their century home. She loved gardening and sewing, but mostly she enjoyed spending her time with her family and granddaughters.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Henry T. Trenkelbach Jr., whom she married on Nov. 5, 1983; two daughters, Lynne M. (John Kokoczka) Trenkelbach of Akron and Staff Sergeant, Jennifer L. (Dr. Tim Fortney) Trenkelbach of Ft. Bliss, El Paso, Texas; a son, Eric C. (Alicia Rogenski) Trenkelbach of Elkton; her mother, Barb Klein of Columbiana; a sister, Patty (Gary) Hall of Leetonia and two brothers, Jim (Dawn) Klein of Columbiana and John (Kim) Klein of Dallas, Texas. Also surviving are two granddaughters, Natalie Renee and Khylie Jean Trenkelbach.

April was preceded in death by her father, John Klein.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kari Lankford officiating. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery, Leetonia.
