C. Ray McElhaney

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – C. Ray McElhaney, 87, formerly of New Waterford, died Friday at the Summit Medical Center, Hermitage, Tenn., where he had been a patient.

Mr. McElhaney was born July 25, 1926 in Shippingport, Pa, a son of the late Lester and Rosie McElhaney, and prior to his retirement; he had been employed as a foreman with Babcock and Wilcox, Beaver Falls, Pa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during World War II.

He was a member of the Lake Mount Church of Christ in New Waterford.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, the former Mary Allison; and five children, Tom McElhaney and Marsha Green of Pennsylvania, Vicki Cosma and Tammy Rankin, of Tennessee, and Larry McElhaney of Ohio. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Whittington and Cora Belle Wilkes, both of Ohio.

A son, Randy McElhaney had preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Lake Mount Church of Christ, New Waterford, with a grandson, Sheldon Cosma, minister of the Phillips Christian Church, Salem, officiating. Friends will be received at the church for two hours prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford. Military rites will be conducted by the combined units of the American Legion Post 31 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4579. Arrangements were with the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home, East Palestine.
