John William Guappone
LISBON – John William Guappone, 23, of Sell Road, passed away suddenly early Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
John was born Dec. 21, 1990 in Alliance, Ohio, a son of Eric and Natalie (Peterson) Guappone, and had lived his entire life in the Lisbon area.
He was a 2009 graduate of United High School and had attended Otterbein College, where he played soccer. John was a carpenter and worked beside his father at their construction business, Woodworx.
John was an active member of St. George Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus 4049, a life member of the NRA, and was an alumnus of Buckeye Boys State. He was a great contributor to the Sons of the American Legion, Joe Williams Post 131.
He was also an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. John enjoyed traveling with his family, was active in the United Local Alumni Soccer program and was a food connoisseur.
In addition to his parents of Lisbon, John is survived by his sister, Emily Guappone of the home; his brother, Jeremiah Guappone of Columbus; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Shirley Guappone of Lisbon; maternal grandmother, Kathryn Peterson Gallo of Lisbon; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandparents; his paternal great-grandparents, Daniel and Adeline Guappone; maternal grandfather, John William Peterson; and his cousin, Thomas Bagley III.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at St. George Catholic Church, 271 West Chestnut St., Lisbon, with Rev. Father James Lang and Monsignor C. Eugene Morris officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Dungannon.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home, where a Knights of Columbus Service and a prayer service will be held at 9pm.
