Mary Lou Lease
SALEM – Mary Lou Lease, 75, of Salem, died Monday morning, Feb. 10, 2014, at her home following a short illness, with her family by her side.
She was born July 8, 1938, in Salem, the daughter of the late Norman E. and Josephine M. (Cobb) Sturgeon.
Mary Lou was a 1956 graduate of Salem High School and attended the Greenford Christian Church. She had been a floral designer at Quaker Corner Flowers for many years and enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, camping and birds.
She was filled with compassion and interest in others, and made friends easily, maintaining contact with many. All will treasure her spirited love, warmth and good cooking.
Mary Lou was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves all of her family with the knowledge that they were truly loved.
Her parents and two grandchildren, Brandon and Daniel, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her adoring husband of 57 years, Clarence E. Lease, whom she married July 1, 1956, and her loving children, Paul (Sue) Lease of Salem, Scott (Becky) Lease of Salem, Dave (Pam) Lease of Franklin, Va., Don (Chris) Lease of Alliance and Dan (Alichia) Lease of Norfolk, Va.; three brothers, John (Janet) Sturgeon, James (Nadine) Sturgeon and Homer Sturgeon, all of Salem; 13 grandchildren, Eric, Tad (Shawn), Zack (Jen), Heather, Colby Lou, Jodie, Don, Andy, Nick, Kasey, Emily, Destiny and Dillon; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett, Gavin, Parker and Brady.
Services will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bush officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the services on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park.
