Jean Davis

SALEM – Jean Davis, 75, of Salem, Ohio, formerly of Sharon, Pa., passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.

Born in Flandreau, S. D., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Wilma (Knee) Hendrickson.

She would have been married for 58 years this Christmas Eve to her husband and best friend, Norman T. Davis.

Jean graduated from Sharon Senior High School. She worked as an executive secretary and retired after 25 years at General Motors in Warren, Ohio. She was a member of the Salem Hills Country Club and scored a hole-in-one on #13. Jean was a member of the Greenford Christian Church where she volunteered with the Big Reach Center of Hope.

In addition to her husband, Norman Davis, Jean is survived by her sister, Donna (Ed) Rodgers; three children, daughter, Lori (Ken) Bocchicchio; son, Ted (Roxanne) Davis; and son Joseph (Amy) Davis; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Tim, Sam, Kate, Emily, Megan, Caysee, and Nathaniel; and two great-grandsons, Grant and Abram.

Her brother, Kenneth LeRoy Hendrickson, also preceded her in death.

Jean enjoyed music, flowers, crafts, gardening, and was an avid reader; Psalms was her favorite book of the Bible. Most of all, she loved her husband, sister, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends. Jean’s favorite advice was “Bigger is better and never buy cheap” and “Trust in God, He has the plan.”

A celebration of life service honoring Jean’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Greenford Christian Church, Greenford, Ohio, with Pastor Sean Kelly officiating. No calling hours will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrot Road, Poland, Ohio 44514 or to a cancer charity of choice.

“Trust in the Lord, lean on Him, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock” — Isaiah 26:4.
