Elmer Carl

SALEM – Elmer Carl, 78, of Salem passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Essex nursing home in Salem.

He was born April 30, 1935, in Smithfield, W. Va., to Edward and Cynthia (Powell) Carl.

Elmer was a truck driver by trade and a member of the Teamsters Local 92 in Canton, Ohio. Elmer’s first job was an elephant trainer at the circus. He also was a member of the Kensington Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Anne (Archibald) Carl of the residence. They were married Sept. 27,1967.

Other survivors are four sons, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Carl and Roger Carl, both of Salem, Richard Carl of Youngstown and Steve (Carrie) Carl of Streator, III.; a daughter, Linda (Barry) Baddeley of Salem; 20 grandchildren; and many loving great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Ronald; five brothers: Gerald (Carrol), Everett, Bob, Paul and John Carl.

The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington with Pastors Lloyd Campbell and Eugene Hydrick officiating.

Calling hours will be held one hour before time of service on Friday from noon until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Hanoverton, Ohio.
