Michael was born in Budapest, Hungary on March 18, 1937, to the late Michael P. and Isabella E. (Rakics) Borossa. When he was 7 years old, they left Hungary due to the perilous conditions created there by World War II. In July, 1956, the family moved to Hollywood, Calif., where Michael and his father worked as mechanical engineers. Michael’s specialty was heating and air conditioning. His engineering career spanned 40 years, working for various architects, engineering and defense contractors. For 26 of those years he worked at the Howard Hughes Research Facility in Malibu, Calif., retiring from there in 1992.

Michael was a member of the Columbiana Baptist Church. He was an avid model railroader, enjoyed car mechanics, and studied politics and history, especially military history.
