SALEM – John Pridon, 85, of Salem, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at the Blossom Nursing and Rehab Center.
He was born Aug. 21, 1928, in Salem, son of the late Zosim and Paraschiva (Oana) Pridon.
John was a 1946 graduate of Salem High School and had been employed for 35 years at E. W. Bliss as a draftsman detailer and afterward worked for Farnsworth Engineering.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Salem Elks Lodge #305, Salem AMVETS and the Romanian Society Leul, and was inducted into the Salem Bowling Hall of Fame in 2002. John served with the military police in the U.S. Army.
An avid bowler, he bowled a 706 series in 1963, the first 700 series bowled in Salem. He bowled several 700 series after that. He also enjoyed golf, jigsaw puzzles and carpentry.
His wife, Stella Kiliman Pridon, survives him along with two sons, John Pridon of Boardman and Steve (Janice) Pridon of Bessemer, Pa.; a brother, Sam Pridon of Salem; four grandchildren, Jason (Brianna) Pridon, Joshua Pridon, Stephanie (Ross) Morrone and Mikael Pridon; and two great-grandchildren, Ava Morrone and Penelope Pridon.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug George officiating.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Following the memorial services, military honors will be provided by the Salem Honor Guard at the church.
