Dolores Mock

Columbiana – Dolores Mock, 72, of Columbiana, died Saturday at her residence.

She was born in Jeanette, PA on Jan. 3, 1942 and moved to Ohio in 1965. She was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary Basile Peperato.

Mrs. Mock was employed as a personnel secretary at Eljer Plumbingware in the 1970s. She served as Middleton Township clerk/treasurer and Roger Village clerk/treasurer.

Dolores was employed as a correspondent for the Morning Journal for a brief time before becoming executive director for the American Cancer Society for Columbiana County in 1979. After retiring from the ACS in 1992, she served as treasurer for State Rep. Sean Logan and continued on as treasurer while he was county commissioner. She then became a licensed agent for Allstate Insurance Co. in Columbiana for several years and had retired from a local church where she had been working as a secretary. Recently, she had been volunteering at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Mock was also active in Democrat politics and served as 2nd vice chairman and then became chairlady for the county. She served as precinct committeewoman for 34 years and then went on to serve on the executive committee.

Dolores was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas W. Mock, whom she married on May 20, 1959; a daughter, Terri (Tim) Birnesser of Columbiana; a son, Thomas M. Mock of Nashville, TN; a sister, Lucy (Don) Eglhaut of Jeanette, PA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, Columbiana. Burial will be at the Columbiana Cemetery.
