Edward L. “Bud” Gregory

SALEM – Edward L. “Bud” Gregory 93, of Salem passed away at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2014 at Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Bud was born on Oct. 3, 1920 in East Oakdale, Ky., the only son of Overton Lee and Constance Deacy (Tressell) Gregory.

He has been a resident of Salem for the last 50 years, moving here after serving actively in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He was abord the destroyer Dale during the attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. After active duty, he served another 10 years in the national reserves. Bud retired after almost 25 years from RAG Tooling Company. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and playing pool.

He is survived by his niece and caregiver, Jean (the late Richard) Grimstad of Salem; a nephew, Michael Anistasia of Florida; and many great and great great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah “Woodie” Woodard; and three sisters and their spouses, Marguerite (the late Sam) Miller of Florida, Irene Milton (the late Clarence) Green of Florida, and Lula Mae (the late Anistasia) Winchester of Tennessee.

A private service will be held at a later date. The burial is being held in Grandview Cemetery, Salem.
