SALEM – Helen Bodirnea, 89, of Salem, died at 4 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Inn at Glenellen in Boardman where she had resided for the past 5 years.
She was born April 28, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Mike and Theresa (Konor) Thomas.
Before her retirement in 1987, she had worked as a secretary for 41 years at the former Deming Crane. Helen was a 1943 Salem High School graduate, a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a former member of the Deming Girls.
Her husband, George A. Bodirnea, whom she married Nov. 23, 1947, preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1994. Two brothers, Mike and George Thomas also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, George J. (Shirley) Bodirnea of Louisville, N.C., and a granddaughter, Adrienne (Greg) Russell of Atlanta, Ga.
A memorial funeral mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at a later date. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
