East Palestine – JoAnne Armus-Sugar, 87, of state Route 165, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Regional Medical Center, where she had been a patient for the past six days.
Mrs. Sugar was born April 7, 1927 in Darlington, PA, a daughter of the late Curtis and Frances Harper Berresford, and was a life resident of the area. She had owned and operated a beauty shop in the East Liverpool area, and had been involved with the “Sugar & Spice” Antique shops in Columbiana and North Lima.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harry Armus, and later Arthur Sugar.
Mrs. Sugar is survived by a stepson, Michael Armus of Baltimore, MD; two grandsons; three sisters, Marlene England, Delores Cope, and Madeline Claypool, and a brother, James Tusar, all of East Palestine.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens, New Waterford, with Philip Smith officiating. Arrangements were with the Oliver-Linsley Funeral Home. www.oliver-linsley.com
