Leora A. George

LISBON – Leora A. George, 89, passed away at 2 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at the Vista Center following a recent illness.

Mrs. George was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Salem, a daughter of the late Charles M. and Mildred (Tullis) Hanna, and had lived in the Lisbon area all of her life.

Leora had worked as a printer for Gray Kodrich in Lisbon for 10 years, retiring in 1986.

She was a member of the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church; former member of the Lisbon Eagles Aerie 2216 ladies auxiliary; and a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 275 ladies auxiliary. Leora was also an avid bowler, she bowled on many area leagues and was inducted into both the Salem Woman’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the National Woman’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She also loved to play cards with her family and friends.

Her husband, Kenneth R. George, whom she married March 16, 1947, preceded her in death Oct. 30, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Nelson Ray Hanna and Chester M. “Chet” Hanna; and by her great nieces, Natalie and Nicole Restifo.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her nieces, Connie (Jerry) Beltempo of Salem, Cathy (Jim) Restifo of Lisbon, and Christy (Ed) James of Bluffton, S.C.; her great-nieces and nephews, Alex James, Sarah (Scott) Colian, Adam Restifo and Vanessa Restifo; and her great-great-nephew, Owen Colian. She is also survived by her special friends and caregivers, Lesa and Mary Ann Gray, both of Lisbon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark R. Wilds officiating. Burial will follow at the Lisbon Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
