Donald A. McCoy

OXFORD, Miss. — Donald A. McCoy, 77, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford, Miss.

Born in Salem, Ohio, on May 3, 1939, Mr. McCoy was a retired self-employed business owner of Don McCoy & Son Inc., and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. McCoy was a member of the Boiler Makers Union and a marshal in the Order of Athena. He enjoyed welding, woodworking, staying busy and supervising everything. Above all else, Mr. McCoy loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial/celebration service at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 12, 2016, at Relevant Church of Mobile, 9014 Johnson Road S  Mobile, Ala. 36695. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Marelda Jane McCoy of Eight Mile, Ala.; three sons, Dannie Lee McCoy of Mobile, Ala., Daniel (Trina) McCoy of Tennessee and Mark  McCoy of South Carolina; three daughters, Debbie (Scott) Weikart of Ohio, Diana J. Higgins of Eight Mile, Ala., and Ida (Donald) Sorrells of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Kathy Dotson of Ohio; 22 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

His parents, Donald and Ida Catherine McCoy, two brothers, Jim  and John McCoy, one son, Darby McCoy and one daughter, Chris Kastanek, preceded Mr. McCoy in death.

Memorials may be made to Halcyon Hospice or the American Stroke Association.
