Mary Mae Celin

SALEM — Mary Mae Celin, 88, of Salem, died at 3:18 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in Columbiana.

She was born Jan. 25, 1928 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lloyd K. and Margaret (Kirchgessner) Votaw.

She was a 1946 graduate of Salem High School and a lifelong member of the First Christian Church and former Choir member, Director of Junior and Chapel Choirs, Faithful Followers Sunday School Class, Past President of Garden Club of Ohio, lifetime member of Damascus Garden Club, Salem Music Study Club, Salem Golf Club, longtime volunteer of AID and Accredited flower show judge.

Her husband, Joseph M. Celin, whom she married Sept. 12, 1948, preceded her in death March 26, 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Jaye Kleinline of Columbus, Ohio and Nancy (Jeffrey) Sherman of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and a granddaughter, Allison (Bill) Kuhn of Columbus.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at the First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St., Salem,with the Rev. Leonard Moore officiating. Calling hours will be held Monday from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery.
