Harold A. Windram

COLUMBIANA — Harold A. Windram, 92, dearest husband, father and step father went to be in the arms of his Lord and Savior Friday morning, Feb. 17, 2017.

Harold was born March 19, 1924 in Leetonia, Ohio, to Walter and Clara Halverstadt Windram. He attended Leetonia grade school and high school and went to Youngstown, Kent and Ohio State Universities.

Harold served his country as an Army Air Corps pilot during World War II.

His love of children and sharing his knowledge lead him to a profession involving children, becoming an elementary school teacher. He put his natural leadership skills and experience to work when he became an elementary school principal in 1966, retiring from Shelby Schools in 1980.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Evelyn Scroggs, whom he married March 13, 1976; his son Glen (Vicki) Windram of Leetonia; four step daughters, Robyn (Woody) Shepherd of Centre, Ala., Mary Dee (Don) Raabe of Medina, Andrea (Gregory) Nolan of Akron and Deena (Jack) Walp of Youngstown; many grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Joanne Merrell; and his sister, Helen Muntz.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, Columbiana. The funeral service will follow at noon Monday, Feb. 20, 2107 at the church with Pastor Joshua Conley and Pastor Bruce Irwin officiating. Military honors will be accorded following the service at the church. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.
