Larry Snyder

ALLIANCE — Larry Snyder, 75, of Alliance, passed away at 3:12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Aultman Compassionate Care.

He was born March 12, 1941, in Salem, Ohio, a son of Elba and Inez (Swiger) Snyder and was a lifelong area resident.

Larry was a graduate of United High School and had owned the Alliance Sewing Center (a Singer dealership) for many years and was known locally as the “Singer Man.”

He was a devoted member of Beechwood Christian Church where he served on the mission committee for years as well as serving as an elder, deacon, trustee, teacher and youth leader. He also helped with the building of two new church buildings over the years. He was the past director of Northeastern Ohio Association of Helpers (NOAH) and Haitian Christian Outreach.

Larry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling most of the United States with his wife as well as parts of Canada and a mission trip to Haiti. Other interests included building model airplanes and boats, collecting miniature sewing machines and lighthouses.

Besides his wife, the former Janice McCullough, whom he married June 23, 1962, he leaves his two sons, Brian (Tina) Snyder of Alliance and Bruce (Liz) Snyder of Uniontown, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer Snyder, both of Alliance and Brandon Snyder of Uniontown, Ohio.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Cosma.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastors Mark Black and Josh Robinson officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
