Virginia A. Caraway

NEW LYME — Virginia A. Caraway, 75, got her angel wings on Monday, Jan. 30, 2017, with her family by her side at Cleveland University Hospital. She was a long time resident of New Lyme, Ohio.

On Oct. 10, 1941, in Salem, Ohio, she was the first born child to Nick and Ida (Panezott) Colon. She grew up with her two younger brothers, Richard and Tom.

After attending Salem High School she found and married the love of her life, Wray T.  Caraway on May 8, 1963. They shared 51 years together before her beloved husband passed in November 2014.

Together they had four children who survived her and all live in Ohio: Mary (Gary) Welsh of Washingtonville, Vickie Holley of Warren, Nickolas (Terri) Caraway of Genoa and Ricky Caraway of New Lyme; brothers, Richard (Sylvia) Colon of Salem, Tom (Rita) Colon of Hanoverton; grandchildren, Cynthia, Taylor, Justin, Nickolas, Dakota, Reagan, Tiffany and Heather. They will always have memories of the times she took them to the Spillway to feed the fish.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Carlie, Alannah, Veronica, Gracie, Skylar and Jaggar, they will remember their grandma sitting on the couch watching television and giving them a lap to sit on snuggled in her arms. She also was loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.

Virginia will have another angel waiting, her grandson Chad along with her husband, father and mother.

No matter who met Virginia they always walked away a better person after being around her. She was such a special person that always put everyone else’s needs before her own.

She had an amazing love for cooking and always making sure there was enough to eat no matter how many walked in the door. Her children will remember coming home from school with loaves of homemade bread on the kitchen table and a homecooked meal every night.

For years Virginia supported the Pymatuning Valley Booster Club and was at every sporting event and school activity her children were involved with. She continued to support her grandchildren and follow all of their activities. She will be missed for many reasons but mostly for the open arms for a hug and the love that all felt when near her.

A funeral service officiated by the Rev. John Gehring-Anders will take place at noon Friday at the Paine Funeral Home Inc., 140 E. Main St., Orwell, Ohio 44076. Burial will follow at Brownville Cemetery, New Lyme Township.

Visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 11 a.m. Condolences may be made at painefuneralhome.com.
