Jette Magdalina Anne Beck

SALEM–Jette Magdalina Anne Beck, 4, of Salem, Ohio, died at 1:53 a.m. Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Akron Children’s Hospital of a Level 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor diagnosed this past January.

She was born March 7, 2013 in Ravenna, Ohio.

She was a member of Real Living Ministries in Boardman and attended preschool at Salem City Schools.

Survivors include her loving Dad and Mom, Derek and Angela Beck; two brothers, Darius, 13, and Trevor,7; and a sister, Anna Beck, 9, all of Salem.

Jette was a beautiful, sassy, smart little girl who was also known as “The toughest little girl in the world.” She loved Barbies, Disney movies, play-dough, baby dolls and being a mommy to those dolls. She loved the beach and had an exceptional talent for bossing her siblings around. She had crazy curly hair and the bluest of blue eyes that when added to the most ornery look on the planet, destroyed frowns and furrowed eyebrows aimed at her.

After a scheduled MRI was taken for headaches, Jette was diagnosed in late January 2017 with the deadliest, most aggressive cancer that starts within the brain. She had emergency brain surgery hours later. The placement of the tumor and her age made it impossible for treatment and quality of life to occur at the same time.

Months later, Jette and the Beck family were given a trip of their choice from the “Make a Wish Foundation” and “Give Kids the World Village.” Disney was chosen and many, many wonderful memories were made. One of her favorites was meeting Merida from the movie “Brave.” Jette’s favorite movie was Disney’s “Frozen,” which she watched one final time Tuesday morning until the final credits were done and then peacefully let go and died with many loved ones at her side and the most beautiful smile on her face. She was loved by many.

A memorial service for Jette will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Salem First Friends Church with Pastor Joy Chickonoski officiating. There are no calling hours.

A special thanks to Dr. Sarah Rush and the Oncology Department as well as the P.I.CU staff and doctors at Akron Children’s Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Give Kids The World (givekidstheworld.org), 210 South Bass Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746 or Make-A-Wish, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana Chapter Headquarters, 6060 Rockside Woods Blvd. Suite 315, Independence, OH 44131.

Arrangements were handled by the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
