William F. Booker

BOARDMAN–There will be funeral services at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fox Funeral Home for William F. Booker, 86, who passed away Friday evening, May 19, 2017, at Providence Hospital Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.

Bill was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of the late Clarence R. and Kathryn E. Ballentyne Booker.

He was a 1949 graduate of South High School. He served as a Corporal Honor Guard in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. Bill owned and operated Colonial Villa Estates for 40 years, retiring in 2014.

He was a great storyteller with a warm sense of humor, and was always there for anyone who needed him. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, and loved spending time with family.

Bill leaves his beloved wife of 43 years, the former Ann Gorbacz, whom he married on March 16, 1974; a daughter, Lori Czap of Austintown; stepdaughter, Julia Rathbun of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren Stacy Czap of Austintown and Jenna (Joe) Greenfield of Newton Falls; and a great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Czap.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Booker Jr., and brothers Ralph, Robert and Clifford Booker.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fox Funeral Home 4700 Market St. Boardman.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Angels for Animals 4750 W. South Range Rd. Canfield, Oh. 44406 and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 37501.
