Robert Lowell Cope

LISBON–In the afternoon of Sept. 6, 2017, surrounded by his family, Robert Cope passed away. He was born on Sept. 11, 1939, the son of Helen and Edward Cope of New Waterford, Ohio.

Bob was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served our country from February 1962 to February 1965. While serving in the 293rd Engineering Battalion, Bob began his Heavy Equipment Operating career. His love of diesel fuel was second only to his love of family. After retirement, he began a new career, notably his favorite job of all, Grandpa.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Karen, whom he married in March of 1977; his three daughters, Cami Cope, Crystal (Tim) Lucas and Carli Cope; his grandson, Levi Lucas; and his siblings, Kenneth (Joanne) Cope, Caroline (Robert) Adams, James Clinton Cope and Richard Owen Cope.

Preceding Bob were his parents and his sister, Catherine Vogel.

Many of you know Bob had his own way of doing things and a sense of humor we will miss. As long as we can all remember, he always joked about how he wanted his obituary to read “Bob Cope died.” So there it is, we’ve followed his wishes. And no services will be held per his request.
