Ruby L. Brubaker

“That Woman in the Drug Store” who touched the lives of all who knew her. Known for her generosity, good humor and caring nature, Ruby L. Brubaker, 87, passed away Thursday morning, Oct. 17, 2017 at Salem Regional Medical Center.

Ruby was born August 14, 1930 in Columbiana, daughter of the late Myron and Rhea Beight Brubaker.

Ruby was a graduate of Columbiana High school and went on to graduate from Ohio Northern University where she became one of the first women to enter the pharmaceutical field in 1965. She worked for many area pharmacies in Columbiana, Boardman and Youngstown. No favor was too great for Ruby, which was evidenced by her frequent deliveries of prescriptions to her customers on her way home. Her ever present wit and kindness assured that she made friends wherever she went. Ruby was a member of the Bailey Road Baptist Church, Lordsdown. She was an avid golfer and had a love of tennis and baseball, specifically her favorite team the Cleveland Indians.

Ruby is survived by a niece, Sharon (Benjamin) Borwick of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; two nephews, Ronald (Patricia) Brubaker of Hudson and Randall Brubaker of Boston, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Wilma Brubaker of Columbiana, as well as four great nephews and a great niece whom she cherished like grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Brubaker.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 20, 2017 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral, Columbiana.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bailey Road Baptist Church, Lordstown.
