Cleo Franklin Smalley

EAST ROCHESTER–Cleo Franklin Smalley, 79, of East Rochester died at his residence Friday. He was born Jan. 21, 1938 to Floyd and Beatrice L. (Faust) Smalley in Alchemy, Pa.

Cleo was a member of the Kensington Christian Church. He worked for East Fairfield Coal Co. for 50 years.

He married Mary Jane (Ford) Smalley in 1960 and they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Besides his wife, of the residence, he is survived by two sons, Mike Custer and Leonard (Alice) Custer, both of Hanoverton; two sisters, Selva Wade of North Georgetown and Violet Albany of Massillon; five brothers, Floyd Smalley of Dungannon, Jim (Cora) Smalley of Salem, his twin Leo Smalley of Washingtonville, Bill Smalley of Guilford Lake and Clarence Smalley of East Rochester; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was a daughter, Pam Lewis; and a son, Raymond Smalley.

Calling hours for Cleo will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maple Cotton Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother Gene Hydrick officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery.
