Percy W. Boston

LEETONIA — Percy W. Boston, 83, of Leetonia went home to his Lord at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017 at the Hospice House of Poland. He was born June 7, 1934 in Salem, a son of the late Leslie W. and Rachel (Allison) Boston.

Percy was employed as a machinist for 20 years at Wean United in Austintown, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and a 1952 graduate of Leetonia High School. Percy was a loving and beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a cherished uncle to his many nieces and nephews. His life revolved around his family. A member of Southeast Friends Church in Salem, he was active in the Friends’ Disaster Service. Percy was a great fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He was an avid gardener, loved his flowers and was especially proud of his tree lilies and orchids.

Survivors include his wife, Oretha (Morrison) Boston, whom he married June 21, 1958; two sons, Robert (Bonnie) Boston of Rogers and Kenneth Russell (Paula) Boston of Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Shelly DiCross of Troy, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Martin of Joplin, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Howard, Melvin and Leslie W. Boston; and a sister, Hazel M. Brown.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Brown officiating. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Woodsdale Cemetery. Military honors will be held following the service by the Salem Honor Guard.
