Reed Duncan
EAST PALESTINE — Reed Duncan, 89, died Tuesday at his home.
Born Sept. 12, 1928, in New Galilee, Pa., he was was the son of Arthur N. and Gertrude (Forsythe) Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was a dragline operator for August Lotze Coal and Dodds Coal Companies, before starting Duncan Brothers Drilling Company with his brother James. He was an active member of First Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, the former Donis Barnhouse, whom he married Aug. 12, 1950; three children, Philip (JoAnn) Duncan of Manor, Texas, Wendy (Rod) Kasler of Mount Pleasant and Mark (Heather) Duncan of East Palestine; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Church of Christ in East Palestine with Bob Helbeck officiating. A private entombment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Linsley-Royal Funeral Home in East Palestine and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
