Clyde A. Brown
SALEM – Clyde A. Brown, 79, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018 at the Salem Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 5, 1938 in Salem, the son of the late Clyde F. and Clara L. (Ritchey) Brown.
Clyde was employed at the former Adelphia Communications and the former Tele-Media Communications as an auditor for 10 years. He also worked as a manager for Montgomery Ward and Sears. He served 10 years for the City of Salem on the City Council as Second Ward At Large Councilman, was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Salem, a member and former officer of the Salem Amvets Post #45, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed talking sports with people. Clyde was very community-minded and loved his community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserve.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Barbara J. (Grindle) Brown, whom he married Dec. 31, 1974; two sons, Kerry (Diana) Brown and Craig (Rebecca) Brown, both of Salem; three daughters, Lori Brown of Milford, Ohio, Wendy (Barry) Doyle of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Casey (Wayne) Jarrett of Joint Base Langley-Eustis Air Force Base, Hampton, Va.; a sister, Martha Kirkpatrick of Salem; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Amy Tyson; a sister, Helen Williams; and a grandson Herman Gray of Salem.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2018 at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Doug George officiating. Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Salem Honor Guard following the services Friday at the funeral home.
