Donald L. Abrams
SALEM — Donald L. Abrams, 85, of Salem, died at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at Copeland Oaks / Crandall Medical Center.
He was born on April 2, 1933 in Salem, the son of the late Harry and Helen (Herron) Abrams.
Don worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Salem for 33 years. He had been a longtime member of the Salem First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his five sons, David, Jeffrey and Mark, all of Salem, Robert (Cheryl) Abrams of Delaware and James (Chola) Abrams of California; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Dorothy M. Williams, whom he married on June 24, 1962 and who died on Oct.12, 1996.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem. The Rev. P. Douglas George of the church will be officiating. The Salem Honor Guard will provide military honors at the conclusion of the burial services at Highland Memorial Park.
A time of visitation will be held for 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
