Edwin J. Gurney
EAST PALESTINE–Pastor Edwin J. Gurney, 79, of East Palestine (formerly of Youngstown, Alabama and Dayton) died at 1:10 p.m. Friday at Salem Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin Carroll and Nancy Viola (McFarland) Gurney.
He was a retired minister and served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his children Tina Gurney, Garry (Gina) Gurney and Cindy Gurney, all of Alabama, Mike (Mary) Gurney of Texas, Nancy Melott and Sharon (Tommy) Beatty of Pennsylvania, Jerry and Edwin Gurney Jr., both of East Palestine, and Tammy Allen and Terry Gurney, both of California; 21 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He will be buried in the Dayton (Ohio) National Cemetery with his father. He will receive full military honors services officiated by U.S. Army Chaplain.
