SALEM — Nancy Smith, 72, of Salem died Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic.
She was born Oct. 15, 1946, in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine (Phyllis) Koons.
Nancy was a member of the Phillips Christian Church in Salem. She was a 1964 graduate of United Local High School. Nancy had been a clerk at G.C. Murphy Co., J.C. Penney and Dollar General. She enjoyed spending time and caring for her grandchildren. Nancy will be remembered for her kind, caring and loving personality. She was a wonderful humble person. Nancy was a fighter and never gave up. She will be truly missed.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert L. Smith, whom she married Oct. 27, 1978; two daughters, Sarah (Justin) Perry and Erin (Robert) Pitts, both of Salem; grandchildren, Hannah, Nicholas, Halle, Hattie, Cooper, Harper, Owen and Nolan.
Her brother, Harold Koons also preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at Greenford Christian Church.
Friends will be accepted from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
