Esta P. Berardi

NORTH LIMA — Esta P. Berardi, 84, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Salem Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born May 4, 1934 in Salem, Ohio.

Esta was a homemaker and known as the fun neighborhood Mom when she lived on Blosser Road. The kids all loved her, and she loved all of them. She was a den mother, dance mom, dance grandma, animal lover and a great friend to many. Esta loved to go dancing and loved to camp at Berlin Lake. She decorated for every holiday, a tradition which she passed on to her children and grandchildren and especially loved Christmas Eve with her family and her annual Halloween bonfire.

She was known affectionately as Gaga by her grandkids. She helped raise them and babysat all of them at one time or another, which we are eternally grateful. Later in life, she enjoyed bingo, going to Mountaineer, vacationing in Rehoboth Beach, and just spending time with her family. She was an amazing woman. Heaven surely gained a beautiful Angel.

She is survived by her children, Rebecca Cook of Brookfield, Johnny Berardi of North Lima, Kathy Landis of North Lima, Glory Bea (Frank) Zamarelli of Salem and Angelo Berardi of Boardman; one sister, Twila Kloos of Salem; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Berardi of Canfield, Ohio and sister-in-law, Mary Berardi of Atwater,Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, John, who died Aug. 4, 2008; her mother, Mary Arlene Kille; brothers, Wesley, Charles, Ellsworth Kille and James Burd; and two sisters, Laverne Moffett and Norma Baillis.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Salem. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2019 at the funeral home.

Donations may be made in Esta’s name to Animal Charity of Youngstown, 4140 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.

Special thank you to Dr. Rick Simmons who Mom loved having as her doctor. His care and understanding of her was very special.
