Richard L. “Dick” Hahlen

ALLIANCE — Richard L. “Dick” Hahlen, 83, of Alliance died Tuesday at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital.

He was born on June 27, 1935 in Alliance, a son of the late Harold and Grace (Schopfer) Hahlen.

A graduate of American High School in Chiacgo, Ill,. he retired from Transue and Williams (Alliance Plant) as a Heat Treater. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Wisconsin BB64.

He was a past member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Ellen (Lockhart) Hahlen, whom he married Feb. 4, 1955; a daughter, Diane Lynn (Bill) Jackson of Beloit; son, Michael Thomas (Pam) Hahlen of Dublin; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday at Gednetz-Ruzek-Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Radcliff officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit with military honors provided by the Salem Honor Guard.
