Wayne F. Smith

LISBON — Wayne F. Smith, 72, died at 11:51 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Salem Regional Medical Center after he finished his earthly journey and was taken from his favorite field to his eternal home.

He was born March 3, 1947 in New Garden, Ohio, a son of Donald A. and Freda (Aegerter) Smith.

Wayne lived in the area all his life. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Wayne was last employed at Salem Label Inc. as a supervisor for 44 years, retiring in 2009. He was a member of Lisbon Trinity Friends Church where he served as a trustee. Wayne was an avid hunter and a member of the Ohio Big Buck Club. He loved to ride four-wheelers, hike and just spend time outdoors. Wayne’s greatest love was his family and spending time with them.

Survivors include two sons, Richard (Sherry) Smith and Ryan (Julie) Smith, both of Lisbon; a daughter, Racquel a(Richard) Fraas of Lisbon; nine cherished grandchildren and their spouses; six great-grandchildren; his former wife, Doreen Smith; a sister, Susan (Mike) Balint; four brothers, Paul Lewis (Judy) Smith of Hanoverton, Randy Smith of Hanoverton, Gail John (Ann) Smith of Lisbon and Donald A. (Mardi) Smith of Vermont.

Besides his parents, a sister, Sandra Kay Schmied, also preceded him in death.

Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Lisbon Trinity Friends Church with Pastor Ron Robinson officiating. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Arrangements were handled by Stark Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
