Kenneth Brent McLemore

PORTSMOUTH, Va.– Kenneth Brent McLemore, 51, passed away surrounded by loved ones at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va., on April 28.

Kenneth, who commonly went by “Brent,” was born in 1968 in Salem, Ohio to Carl Kenneth McLemore (deceased 1994) and Shirley May Stewart McLemore.

Brent lived his life devoted to ministry. Before graduating from Roanoke Bible College in 1997, Brent served in youth ministry at several churches including Powell’s Point Church of Christ, Olivet Church of Christ and Fairview Church of Christ. After graduation Brent served as the associate minister at Scuppernong Church of Christ in North Carolina and eventually became the senior minister at Lynchburg Church of Christ in Lynchburg, Ohio. He served there from November 1998 to May 2002.

As a devoted family man, Brent transitioned from preaching to over the road driving in order to take care of his family. In 2005 while driving his truck, he was involved in an accident that led to his being disabled and eventually living in assisted living.

Brent leaves behind three sons, Caleb (Mallory), Noah and Elijah. He also leaves his mother, Shirley McLemore; four brothers, Gary McLemore (Rhonda), Lynn Stewart (Patty), Tim McLemore (Suzanne) and Jeff Stewart (Terrye).
