Middle of the pack
SALEM — The final opportunity for Salem to clinch a Metro Athletic Conference crown in front of a home crowd at Reilly Stadium fell short as the Quakers finished in fourth while the Lady Quakers solidified a third place showing and another MVP performance by senior Sarah Brobeck.
Starting off strong, the Quakers managed to put themselves within the top three for the duration of the meet due to a second place performance by Jason Keniston in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and a solid performance by Mike Boggs in the shot put and discus events. But as Canfield and Poland began to excel in the relay, Salem faded within the top five to end the night, finishing with a final of 78 points behind third place finisher Poland with 90.
Despite a disappointing finish, head coach Todd Huda remains optimistic about his team’s chances at districts, how far his team has come, and most important, the future.
